Omaha by Design, founded in 2001, is an urban design and environmental nonprofit dedicated to improving the way Omaha functions, looks and feels. The organization facilitates partnerships among the public, private and philanthropic sectors to execute projects that improve the quality of Omaha’s built and natural environments.

All projects and activities stem from recommendations outlined in the urban design and environmental components of the city’s master plan, which Omaha by Design helped develop during its first decade of service to the community. The organization also monitors the local environment for adherence to policy changes resulting from these visioning documents and acts on activities that threaten to undermine their validity.

The Density Project is all about helping increase the city’s density in a proper manner. Strengthening Omaha’s inner core is a common theme that links all of Omaha by Design’s projects and activities.
